Leading a team to build a modular SaaS application
About: A platform that targets large cleaning services companies in Europe and beyond.
Responsibilities: As the Design Team Lead for SoniQ IQ, I directed a team of 8 designers, overseeing the design approach across desktop and native mobile platforms, task allocation, open and collaborative working sessions and iterative feedback.
Design Process: The team began with user interviews, shadowing and surveys to understand user needs. I steered the team in helping to understand the platform UX, establish the design system and ensured consistency across platforms.
Applied Methods: Our focus was user-centered design, creating personas for all platform users. We emphasised responsive design for desktop and device-specific design for mobile apps which were tailored to particular personas in our target market companies. Continuous feedback was captured and recorded about application usage.
Challenges: Growing, motivating and coordinating a team of 8, stakeholder management, ensuring design consistency in an evolving platform, and balancing modular flexibility with interface simplicity were the main challenges.
Outcomes: We delivered first an MVP and then released a full SaaS application offering a unified user experience across platforms.

Being the design lead for a modular SaaS application was as much about fostering a collaborative team environment as it was about crafting the user experience. I aimed to create a space where each designer's unique skills contributed to a unified vision, resulting in a product that is as versatile as the team behind it.
